Welcome to the Deshmukh Group at UC San Diego!

Our research group develops and utilizes novel solution NMR methods to explore complex biological problems associated with proteins involved in signal transduction, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, and Parkinson’s disease. We are especially interested in understanding the interplay between protein dynamics and function. We also seek to detect and elucidate, at atomic resolution, short-lived states of biomolecules that are functionally important but invisible to conventional biophysical techniques due to their transient nature.
